At the Eagle and Child Ramsbottom, we’ve always been about serving up the finest Lancashire pub grub with fresh local and seasonal ingredients. We’ve always focussed on sustainability, local and seasonal produce. Our food takes time to prepare and cook, so ‘slow service’ is where you expect your food to arrive quickly. We’re not a fast food outfit, so we politely request that guests allow for dishes to be prepared and food to be cooked. We are a training business, so things take a bit longer, but we also prepare all dishes from scratch. If you are very hungry or in a rush, advise us.
Please allow 2 hours for an enjoyable 2-3 course meal with us.
We’ve now put together a fabulous VEGAN and VEGETARIAN menu, which we hope will appeal to all palates!
We’ve a great reputation for our food having won ‘Best Food Pub’ twice in the Manchester Food and Drink Awards, as well as a host of local and national plaudits.
Winner of Lancashire Life’s ‘Family Friendly Dining’ venue of 2017, we have a great food offer for kids too and are family friendly until 8pm! After 8pm, we request that older children only (10 years and older) are in the bar and dining areas. If you have children and would like us to ‘speed up service’, then please let us know and we will do our best to do so, to allow you to relax!
Please be aware that the menus below are an indication of our current menus. As our produce is all fresh and seasonal, we may have to change the menu at short notice.
FACTS + INFORMATION ABOUT OUR FOOD
- Don’t come if you’re in a rush or please let us know! All food is freshly prepared using local and home grown produce. We are not a fast food restaurant, so please ensure you visit us with enough time to ensure your food can be prepared with love and care! Dishes can take up to 40 minutes during busy periods, but we are more than happy for you to ‘pre-order’ in advance if you are on your lunch hour! We suggest that you allow 2 hours for a dining experience with us… Please don’t moan or review us negatively if you have to wait when we are busy as we have pre-warned you nicely!
- When it’s gone, it’s gone! Dishes may change without notice due to availability and seasonality. We have additional daily dishes on our specials board. We have a limited number of these and our core menu items and they will sell out during busy periods. We can’t just get something out of the freezer and put it in the microwave, as this is not our style…
- An intimate and bespoke Sunday Lunch. We have a smaller set menu which is unique each week and corresponds with seasonal produce and what we bring in from our garden during the growing season. This is complemented with specials and pub classics which are on the board. The full a la carte and bar menus are not available on a Sunday.
- All veg and no meat? We cater for Vegan diners and those with dietary requirements. We have a full Vegan and Vegetarian menu, which we feel is one of the best in the local area!

Locally sourced and sustainable food ethos: we grow it, cook it and you eat it!
We’re working with local producers and suppliers to ensure we have the best quality local ingredients from the Pennine areas including fine cheeses, meats, seafood, fruit and vegetables. We’ve been growing our own fruit and vegetables for over 5 years now from our pub garden. This includes spuds, spinach, beetroot, turnips, radish, peas and beans, a range of berries and apples, plums and pears! We also have 20 hens for eggs which will be offered when available as part of our daily specials!
